NEW HEAD COACH - JO WOOD

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Jo Wood as the Head Coach of the BNZ Kāhu for the 2026 Tauihi season.

Jo joins the club with extensive coaching experience across multiple levels of the game, currently serving as an assistant coach with the WNBL’s Southside Flyers and the Australian U19 Gems - with whom she secured a silver medal at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup - while also leading the Frankston Blues as head coach following five seasons within their NBL1 South women's program.

Jo has established a proven record of success within the Victorian basketball pathway, guiding teams to championships at various levels, including the VJBL Victorian Championship, the Big V Youth Championship, and a gold medal with the Victorian Under-20 Women at the Australian National Championships.

"I feel honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of representing Kāhu Basketball, an organisation that is passionate about and committed to inspiring girls and women both on and beyond the basketball court. I'm super excited to get started and look forward to the challenge of bringing success and continuing to build the legacy that Kāhu is creating."

Outside of coaching, Jo is married with two teenage children and looks forward to bringing her experience and passion to the New Zealand basketball community as she prepares the team for the upcoming season.
